What Urban Impact Do
Our Work
We Mobilize, Equip and Engage with the local Church to empower the urban poor to bring lasting transformation in their communities by bringing a message of Gods justice and Christ’s love. By empowering the Church to walk alongside the poor and their families, Urban Impact Kenya helps to establish a strong foundation for the church to build a sustainable and life-transforming urban ministry. As a result, churches model Jesus’ heart for the poor in practical ways, showing His care and power over every part of life. In addition to the economic and social transformation that takes place through our programs, many participants provide testimony of renewed faith, and spiritual growth.
How we work
The premise of our approach is that the poor have potential, they have skills, energy and some knowledge about changing their situation but face several interconnected barriers that inhibit their ability to take advantage of possibilities and opportunities to improve their situation.
In Exodus 4:2, God encouraged Moses to use what he had in his hands. Urban Impact Kenya is following this example, by Envisioning, Mobilizing and providing training to local churches to identify and encourage the poorest, most vulnerable families (Populations) to recognize what they already have, rather than what they do not have. Our focus is to help transform ``I can't”, “I am Poor”, ``I don’t have anything”, ``I have nothing`` mentality to one of ``I can do something`` and “I can try it out”. Over time, hearts, mind-sets and whole communities are changed forever. Replicable change.
Our Model
We use a proven model to transform lives and communities. It is an approach to community development that takes into account spiritual, social, and economic well-being. Working alongside churches in some of the most marginalized communities in the Slums of Nairobi, we share hope and help through Livelihoods Support, Education and Scholarship, Youth Empowerment and development through self-reliance groups, savings and loans, spiritual formation, and small businesses development. Our approach starts with Churches, and extends to families and communities. We call this transformational empowerment. Our approach is intended to be…
